The Terrible Six
Hunslet formidable pack the terrible six Wash Jukes Brooks Higson Wilson and Randall in 1907/08 spread fear through rugby league clubs in Yorshire Lancashire and Cumberland.
Hunslets winning side soon broke up Albert Goldthorpe retired in 1909,Brooks and Walsh retired 1910,Higson was transferred to Huddersfield in the same year, and in 1912 after a dispute about pay Billy Batten was transferred to Hull for £600. After the war Hunslet slumped to their lowest ever league position and lean years followed.
The first Tour to the Southern Hemisphere took place in 1910, Hunslet had four selected Batten,Jukes,Farrar and Smith. Jukes and Batten played in all five tests
and Smith three.
The second tour in1914 saw Smith tour again along with Guerin and Smales, Smith played in Four Tests.
